Coursework

Each term we take a series of classic rock or pop songs and break them down into individual exercises that all students can play. Beginners receive a tuition booklet that reflects their level of ability whilst a more experienced student will receive a set of more challenging exercises.

Each song is played over a two week period. In week 1 students are introduced to the song by their tutors and each of the exercises relavent to their level of ability are covered. These exercises are then taken away by the student and practised at home over the course of the next week. When the students return in week 2 the lesson is spent ironing out any areas of the song that proved tricky and preparing for a performance at the end of the session where everyone plays together.

Against the backdrop of the fortnightly songs, each student carries a course companion. Created in levels 1 - 6, this aligns broadly with the Rockschool graded program and is a series of technical exercises that students can practise in addition to learning their performance pieces.
